Although CBS video quality was much better watching on WBTV from Charlotte because WSPA has reduced the bandwidth for HD since combining WYCW-62 with the Channel 7 signal last week. More artifacts, macroblocking, and motion blur now on WSPA antenna signal. Some select cable or satellite systems may use direct fiber link for WSPA so it may not be as much of an issue there, but some cable systems may receive WSPA with an antenna and that will have lower bandwidth than WBTV. We have Charter Spectrum and an antenna, so I can switch between WSPA cable and antenna feeds, as well as WBTV from Charlotte with the antenna.
have DirecTV and the picture on CBS seemed great yesterday - it's disappointing that WSPA has a compressed signal now (esp with all the sports CBS broadcasts) - FOX was AWFUL on Charter (significantly compressed)
interestingly, I was just in Naples, FL last week watching the Masters (#3 on the above ranking) and continued watching it here in Greenville
With At&t U-verse all of the channels are always very clear! WSPA is always clear here in Spartanburg. Also WYCW-62 is clear. When we had Charter years ago we never had any problems getting those channels. How do you all get WBTV from Charlotte?

It's possible DirecTV receives the WSPA signal via fiber or satellite link so the the video may not suffer the compression from the combined over the air signal. Normally the antenna signal over the air may be better or less compressed than cable or satellite, but not anymore since they combined the WSPA signal with WYCW both on channel 7. Less bandwidth for HD video quality. Watching with an antenna CBS now looks better on WBTV.

In many areas of the Upstate you can receive WBTV from Charlotte with a device called an antenna. Especially an outside antenna. WBTV has a strong signal broadcasting as Channel 3 on RF23. The antenna needs to be pointed northeast towards Charlotte and sometimes an amplifier may help boost the signal. At my house near Mauldin WBTV comes in very strong and I can receive it with an inside antenna. But for long distance reception an outside antenna is always best, and sometimes may be placed in the attic.
It appears Greenville was the top rated market for the Masters coverage on Friday. Perhaps Greenville has surpassed Mrytle Beach as the Golf Capital of the World.
Greenville was a top 8 or 9 market for college basketball this season.
I thought it was understood Spartanburg, Anderson and the rest of the Upstate is part of the Greenville market. I did not realize it included Asheville but I'm not sure what difference it makes.
