We just moved here from out of state with no connections and haven't met any locals yet. I would like to sell a motorcycle but not sure the best method here. Are newspapers very successful in this area? Can I legally park the bike in public areas? I have never had any luck with craigslist (far too many scams) and don't do facebook, etc. Any tips would be appreciated.

Same in my area. I was skeptical at first, but found a couple of people to water my plants while I was on vacation on Nextdoor. People sell things there, post things they're giving away, ask for babysitters and housesitters, report neighborhood crime incidents, ask for recommendations of one sort or another. I've even seen someone post a photo of a coyote in the neighborhood, as well as posting "what is this plant in my yard?" sort of questions.

It's composed of your real neighbors, and there's a verification process that makes it a lot safer than Craigslist or the like. You can specify whether you want your nearby area only, or to include adjacent neighborhoods. Here's a good review from a couple of years ago:
