As mentioned in the title. Who do you know that buys or just wants used and unwanted electronics locally? Also a flat panel TV that doesn't work, but could be fixed. Other than that I'll just recycle it. Thanks ahead.
I can't believe such things would be worth wasting time and money on?
You never know. There are still TV repair shops and it is a HD flat panel. Someone may be interested. I had a card from someone who was interested in stuff like this, but I misplaced the card. I'd rather them have it if they want it. Apparently it just needs capacitors that are dirt cheap.
Hmm, I am under the impression that widescreen HD TV's are not really repairable, considering their relatively low initial cost (much cheaper than in decades past)... plus the most common display problems are caused by degradation of the liquid crystal array and REALLY can't be repaired...
TV's of the 1950's-60's etc were designed to be repairable (much simpler before the microchip era) and their high cost, thousands in today's money, made repairs the economical choice. Not so today.

You're probably right and I'll just dispose of it.
When I was responsible for running IT at a mental health agency in the mid 2000s, I found that it was much cheaper to recycle a computer and just buy a new one than get it fixed. Unfortunately, that's true of most electronics these days -- including TVs.
