Curious is anyone has recommendations for an old time Barber Shop in the Greenville area. By old time I mean something that has been around and basically unchanged since the 1960's or so. I am not talking about one of the 'hip' joints downtown, but rather a place that locals have been going for many years.

Thanks!

Seems not too old but old fashion looking.

The place you describe is exactly what Lauren's Rd Barber used to be before the owners finally retired. It was the only place in town I would go to because it was one of the few places remaining that had traditional barbers that knew how to cut hair (old school style). They were open for 50+ years before closing a few years back. Shortly after closing, a new owner took over and reopened it, but I never went back.

Since then I have had to go to places like Sports Clips, which have provided mixed results.

I would second Laurens Road Barber Shop. It was at McAlister Square forever and moved to Laurens Road when the mall became a mixed-use building. I haven’t been in years though since I like the downtown Great Clips (which is a newish chain).

The Super Barbershop in the Lake Forest plaza on Pleasantburg Drive may be a great fit for you. I haven't been in years, but it had a classic vintage barbershop atmosphere last time I visited.

Main St. Barber in Easley is old school. I go to The Mailroom in the Village(West end) but probably not what you are looking for, its what I would consider upscale.
