At the beginning of HWY 93 Easley (south bound) there is about 2 miles of construction. Over a single weekend, 2 miles was torn up. Yet it has been THREE full weeks with no paving or any type of work since. Those 2 miles are an obsticle course of manholes and other covers sticking up.
To matters MUCH worse, the north bound side has huge metal slabs covering a ditch that was torn into the pavement. As of this morning (Friday, May 5, 2006), those two metal slabs have been run over so much that they have come apart. So now traffic must cross a metal slab, swerve from a concrete ditch that has suddenly appeared, and then run over another metal slab. The ditch covers both north bound lanes. No, not a hole...a ditch. A vehicle WILL hit that ditch today. It is totally open. When it does, the entire front end of the vehicle will go down in that ditch. Yes, it is THAT wide and deep. That poor driver will total their car and end up in the hospital's ER. I would like to know when the ditch will be patched and the 2 south bound lanes will be paved.
I've emailed everywhere I can think of in Transportation, road ways, highways, etc. I'm getting no answer or a run-around.
I work in a hospital and am VERY concerned that someone is going to die today...and Easley/Pickens will be responsible. Possible law suit city here. Any ideas?
