Thanks for the input. I was mainly thinking about HOA rules. Here in Canada, some areas have banned banning clotheslines.
About pollen, is it a year round problem or mainly as certain times?

Heavy pollen is limited to specific times during the Spring and Fall seasons. The worst period is usually limited to about a week or two at most.

The heavy pollen is limited for about the time skyliner said but alot of people move to the upstate never having allergies and then end up with a bad case. That happened to me. Apparently the upstate of SC is one of the worst places to live for allergies. All of mine are outdoor allergens. The allergist told me even though I am not allergic to dogs that I could never have one because they would bring all the outdoor allergens in the house.

If you lived next to me, I'd think it was a charming reminder of the way things used to be, and a good energy saver.

There are also many of us who have lived in the Upstate for a long time and never developed an allergic reaction to any of these things. I often wonder how significant a role OTC and prescription drugs play in people's weakened immune systems. There are much better natural methods available that avoid the extremely risky side effects from drugs.

Skyliner - If you can tell me how to naturally get rid of them I am all for it. Especially right now when i want to scratch my eyes out and the roof of my mouth itches. After living here for 2 years (been here 11 now) my system suddenly went haywire and I have to take Zyrtec year round. If I leave the upstate and go on vacation elsewhere they go away.

I really wish I could help you! You might try speaking with an integrative health doctor and see if you could find a natural solution. I highly recommend Dr. Susan Stegall.
Interestingly, whenever I visit the SC coastal region, I nearly always catch a cold or some other sickness. When I come back to the Upstate it almost immediately clears up. How strange is that?

Thanks Skyliner I am going to check her out. I have never heard of her before. She must be a secret that the allergiest do not want to get out. LOL

My husband had severe pollen allergy until last year. Then somebody told him to drink one teaspoon local honey with one teaspoon water in the morning . It works for him. This year he has no itchy eyes or sneezing. I don't know about others.
