Smile Rugs

Does anyone know of a good place (besides Capel on Woodruff and the outlet in Gaffney) locally to buy area rugs? I am looking for a good wool rug for my family room without breaking the bank.
Thanks in advance!

Kimmie - if you're not married to the idea of a wool rug, there are some very affordable synthetic blends at Garden Ridge on Woodruff. They have a surprisingly decent selection of attractive rugs.

I've seen room-sized rugs at Garden Ridge for under $100 and when I first moved here a few months ago I picked up a couple of runners on sale for $10 each. They aren't going to become family heirlooms I'm sure, but they're durable and inexpensive. I like them because I don't need to get bent out of shape over puppy messes or wet shoe tracks - at those prices they're practically disposable.

I have to agree with GreenvilleJenn on this one. My wife and I looked and looked for a nice wool rug for months back in 2006. Listened to the yelling blond girl, and drove to Gaffney, which was a complete waste of time. Went to Capel too with no luck. We went to a place near the corner of Locust Hill Road and St. Marks Road (can't remember the name), and didn't find anything there either.

One day my wife and her mother took a trip to Garden Ridge looking for something else, and came home with the perfect rug for our family room. It is a wool rug, hand-tufted in India, 8'x10'. $150! It has held up great, and still looks awesome about 18 months after purchase.

Thank you for all of the suggestions and advice!
I have to go to Gardenridge this weekend for patio furniture (great sale going on right now), and I will look at the rugs.
The last time I bought a synthetic rug I swore I would never do that again. I paid about $400 for an 8x10 rug at Home Depot that was on sale, and it did nothing but shed fuzz all over my house. It was horrible. I think it was made of olefin.
I have been to the place in Gaffney with "the screaming blonde lady" before, and while there is a great selection, it really isn't worth the drive - especially with small kids. Would rather buy locally. Aren't those commercials obnoxious??? LOL!
While I am over at Gardenridge, I may go see what's at Marshall's. Forgot about that one.
Thanks again, everyone!

You didn't say what style your are looking for, but there's a catalog called Frontgate which has outdoor area rugs that look like wool (they truly do..I bought some for my kitchen, so I've seen them close up) and are very reasonably priced.
Also, I bought a pretty 9 x 12 oriental on ebay for under $500.

Rugs rugs rugs! Haha, we always have these ridiculous commercials for a huge rug store with 'thousands' of rugs. I believe it's just off of I-85 somewhere near Spartanburg.

Rug and Home is in Gaffney, which is in Cherokee County, for anyone unsure.

Hakim Oriental Rugs has two locations in the Greenville area. They are Middle Eastern and have a nice selection. One location is on U.S. 276 (Poinsett Highway) north of the city, and the other is just off of I-85 and S.C. 153 in Powdersville, just west of Greenville County.

Another place you should check is Orian Rugs in Anderson, on S.C. 81, just north of the AnMed Health Campus. I have heard many great reports about their prices and selection.
