How was the film received locally? Was it deemed a pick or pan?
I saw it and thought it was fair, the typical 2-star movie but since I'm a stay-at-home Mom who rarely gets out to a movie, I'm usually quite pleased with whatever I see as long as I'm enjoying some grown-ups only me time.
The local settings did not seem abundant; in fact I only saw a brief glimpse of downtown. Most of it was shot outside in rural settings for the game scenes.
Anyone know what the stadium was? Was it a place out in Tigerville as I seem to recall?
I'd like to learn more if you know...
I saw it the first week it was out, Monday I think. The theatre was the Hollywood and the stadium theatre was EMPTY. There were only 20-25 people in the whole theatre, it was the 9:00 pm show --- I was surprised about the lack of attendance.
Anyways - I enjoyed the movie, not great mind you, but definitely watchable. Although I had to put up with my wife making googly eyes over George Clooney <wink>
Much of the football was played at the old Travelers Rest High School field. They completely converted it with fancy props though, so it would be hard to tell the location today.
Everyone gasped when George Clooney pulled around to the Westin Poinsett downtown. That was familiar.
