How many months of the year do people use their boats???
On average, how many months in the year would a person actually get use of their boat on the lakes there?
I don't mean just "hot" weather for boating......just nice enough to not freeze your bottom off when out in the boat.

AcadianIrish,
My husband and son use their fishing boat year round. They do get bundled up like Eskimos on the cold days in the winter!

If we were to own a boat how long of a drive would it be to take it out to one of the bigger lakes for a day of boating?
Do most people who own boats leave them at a marina or do they tend to haul them back and forth when they want to use them?

I would say around 45 Minutes, but that depends on where you decide to settle in Greenville.
About the marina thing, its probably about half and half, I see a ton of boats on 85, and people probably tend to take them out of the water more since the lake has been down, but of course the price of gas is high, and it probably costs more to lug them back and forth than it used to, so who knows...

My husband just takes his boat back and forth. It would depend on where you decide to live. There may be restrictions on keeping a boat in the neighborhood unless you parked it in the garage.

Yup, for the most part you can take the boat out whenever you want. It may be cold during winter but it's nothing a nice warm jacket and hat can't fix.

Well, that is good news. At least if you can use it pretty much all year round and it's not too far of a drive to the lake, it might be worth the purchase in a couple years.
