Gas is not available in my subdivision but it is in the area. Because we are all electric we get a special rate from the electric company. I assume that rate is lower than a mixed-use home but I don't really know for sure.
FWIW, you wouldn't use a lot of gas because we don't usually run our furnace all winter long.
my home has a gas fireplace and hotwater tank, much more expensive than electric, the rate per kw is stated by each power company, i am with cpw which is in greer, i was amazed at the difference, check who supplies gas and electric in where you choose to live.
