I wholly agree that the public transportation system in the Upstate is basically unusable. No bus service on Sunday, very limited on Saturdays. Very long wait times and poor planning of routes. Being a native of NC, upon arrival in Greenville I was surprised that a city of this size (comparable to Greensboro, Winston-Salem) had such bad service. Even a city much smaller (Asheville) had longer route times. and better Saturday service. I just don't see how South Carolina can continue to grow economically without investing in better infrastructure for its citizens and corporations that conduct business here.
It may not seem so, but I can guarantee that an improvement in the bus services and other methods of transportation would Improve the quality of life for a lot of elderly, disabled and low income people, as well as students. This would also improve the traffic flow and reduce vehicles on the road. I know people who don't use the bus services, not by choice but because the options for getting where they need to go are greatly limited by the current system. Instead they resort to hitching rides with friends and family or simply walking.
Some people on this forum may not see just how bad the infastructure as a whole is in South Carolina. if you need proof just go up to your northern neighbours (NC) and look at the difference in the roads, sanitation, public transit and services offered. I bet if you paid attention you would be shocked.
