It was 97 degrees today with 14% humidity. It hasn't been over 40% this year. Looks like we brought the SoCal dry heat when we moved here last year. I know our humidity isn't nearly as bad as Charleston or even Columbia but this is weird.

Well 97 by itself is still pretty hot; I'm surprised by the 14% humidity because it is an oven out there.

14% is insanely low humidity for anywhere in South Carolina. Here is a link to the average morning and afternoon humidity across the country.

Average Relative Humidity(%)

During the summer, Charleston's humidity averages are as follows: June: 86% in the morning, 59% in the afternoon, July: 88% and 62%, August: 90% and 63%.

Columbia: June: 86% in the morning, 51% in the afternoon, July: 88% and 53%, August: 91% and 56%.

Greenville/Sp: June: 85% in the morning, 54% in the afternoon, July: 87% and 56%, August: 89% and 58%.

We live in a darn humid state, but at least none of our cities are as bad as Houston or New Orleans. Enjoy the low humidity while it lasts. Hopefully we won't start another drought.

That's awful. We had a good bit of rain this past winter so Lake Murray got back up to normal capacity, but I've noticed the rivers have gotten fairly low again. maybe hurricane season will bring us some depressions to get us out of this drought - without wind damage.

I know it. I was visiting family in Anderson over the weekend and was surprised that it was so dry down there. I did not realize the drought was that severe.

Also, the air seemed "dry" for South Carolina standards. It was occasionally humid though, but there was a couple of afternoons that felt dry.

Yeah I did not have to cut my grass for 3 weeks and even then it was not really even that high. We for sure need the rain!

Ugh, every time there's hope of a big rain it always ends up lasting for about 5 minutes, at the most. We've had plenty of nasty looking clouds and storms blow over but they never want to stop for us. I want rain .
