I doubt it will go anywhere. They've been messing with the development at Lanyair for about five years now. And it's gone nowhere but open a Home Depot that only has maybe three or four people shopping in there at a time.
Don't you remember the nice homes that were supposed to be there?
They even moved the school line so that Lanyair would be in the Jesse Boyd district instead of the Houston district so it would attract more buyers. :-D
In other words, it is indefinitely on hold, if not completely dead. Don't expect anything new to happen within the next year at the very least. The retail industry is currently taking a hard hit and is projected to continue weakening over the next year or two. It is always a good idea to reserve the greater level of enthusiasm until a project is well underway - not just proposed, planned, or even "officially breaking ground." As we have seen more times than not in recent years, planned developments published positively in newspaper and periodical articles usually end up never being constructed, indefinitely delayed, or are eventually altered beyond recognition.
Correct. This project isn't alone either. Dillard Creek in Greer and Easley Town Center in Easley are both on hold also due to not being able to get financing. It's got more to due with not being able to get financing than it does getting tenants.
Nothing planning to be developed at Lanyair ever goes anywhere.
I mean... look at Home Depot. You ever go in there... and there's maybe two workers and a customer. Lowes, on the other hand, usually has at least 10-15 people.
And...
Hillcrest... is completely vacant, although the man who owned it, sold it. When he owned it, the rent was affordable... then he sold it, and now no one can afford to have a store there.
