ok...have a good friend coming to town, right about the time i relocate to g'ville area myself. besides main street shops/bars area to reedy falls, is there an interesting part of town we should go for happy hour and into the night? (we're talking 30's, professional...not necessarily college crowd, although feel free to throw suggestions). he is from downtown chicago, so the pressure is on for fun nightlife!

I was going to say Magnolia Park Town Center but it's not built yet.

hmmm...1 reply so far doesn't seem to bode well....maybe your collective silence says more than a reply? i continue to be optimistic, though...surely there's at least one spot off main street? maybe a nice irish pub somewhere?

There is an Irish pub right off main street, but I can't think of the name of it, and I'm up in Chicago at the moment so can't look it up.

I heard Brick City Grille on Pelham is pretty hip and happening. Never been myself, but heard from a lot of the mid 20'-30's crowd that it's pretty cool.

They have a photo gallery.

Coming from Chicago myself, you're not going to find anything too close to what you're friend is used to. I would stay away from downtown at night (based on your criteria). The bars and resturants get flooded with families with small children during the day and then get overtaken by college aged kids after that.

Check out Snap Shot on Rutherford Road or the Bohemian on Stone. From my experience, those seem to be pretty safe bets (good food, good atmosphere). Chicora Alley would be your best bet downtown, but it gets over taken by the club scene after 10 or so.
