Default Live in Caregivers

This is not an ad for a position but a question about resources

When we move to Simpsonville [date TBD] we may be looking for a live-in caregiver for my mother who is in a wheelchair. Basically, a sitter with light housekeeping and routine care [bed, bathing, dressing, toileting]. Surely there are others out there who do this. Nice home, private bedroom, own bath, own TV hookup [possible computer as well] - adjacent bedroom will be used during day as an office but at night will not be used.

Agencies are cost prohibitive - I am aware of the legatlities of private in home care [W2 vs 1099] but was wondering what typical pay is like, [on top of food and board], and typical time off arrangments.

She would not need to sleep in the room with my parents and we can take over if there is a middle of the night problem. Having a married couple [or female partners] may be an option as well, but I am a bit on the fence about that because the couples relationship adds a dimension of complexity.

I would love to know what others have done for such arrangments and what has and has not worked and what they have generally paid. We are doing everything to keep my mom out of a nursing home without completely giving up our own lives. We are doing it now with hourly care while I am working but it is brutal.
