I'm sorry to hear that, truly. How are the missions here? What do you need to get back on your feet? Are you struggling with any addictions? I know there are people that care and want to help.

Miracle Hill Ministries does a lot of great things in the Greenville metro area, including the Greenville Rescue Mission on Washington Street across from the main post office. They give people a hot meal and place to sleep, and work to place willing participants in classes to learn a skill. Very, very good organization we can all feel proud to have in Greenville.

gsupstate - The upstate is my home (generations) and I do love the upstate and western NC...as you do. The original post was about Falls Church teens and crime is mentioned throughout the posts. Or maybe it was fear of crime b/c of the teens gathering. Everything is relative to the original post.... Lack of parental involvement and state funded programs for kids, and huge increases in population to the region, and higher un-employment ....all are the original causes of the problems we read about today in the newspapers. So how do we in SC make things better? What can be done? You have to look at the whole picture....bored teens, crime and poverty are only symptoms. It is relative to bring in the other topics if you really want to solve the problems. Any ideas for "fixing" the problems?

You're a little off here...the original post is not about Falls Church teens. It's about teens hanging out at Falls Park, which is the park downtown at the west end.

Cool Falls Church area

Where would you like the "thugs" to hang out? Drive them out of downtown ...to where? Maybe some of the churches will allow them to hang out there at night? The schools can't do it b/c they are already strapped for money with recent budget cuts.
Who will drive them out of the city? Do we have enough police force with all of the state's budget cuts? The cities and counties are suffering b/c of these budget cuts.
How can you involve the parents....to take care of their children? Are there any jobs for these kids?
Call Gov. Mark Sanford....He had an "open door" policy at one time....and said he wanted to hear from folks. Call your state-elected officials and ask them what the heck is going on....

When did the Virginia DC suburbs become relevant to this discussion?
