Yeah. It is pretty funny how we turned into Atlanta in one year. LOL. I did notice several state trooper cars and officers downtown last night. That should help take some strain off of the city force.

Downtown Greenville
I don't live there but my husband and I are hoping to do move in the near future. This is one thing we wouldn't like and do not look forward to! As a matter of fact, this kind of stuff is what we are trying to get away from. When we visited Greenville and went downtown at night we did not see any of this at all. Why can't they find somewhere else to go and hang with more teenagers and play rap music. Talk about the charm of the city and downtown, IMO this will take the charm away.
I like diversity and sharing but this is nothing to do with that.
What a shame!

Its all apart of growing pains, which is why we need more cops, and they need to fix the annexation problem so they can have more revenue for more cops. It does feel more diverse though. I just wish it were more grown folks, we don't act up as much.

Why can't teenagers enjoy what everyone else does? There is little enough for teenagers to do as it is. As long as they aren't getting into fights or committing crimes I don't see the problem with a little music.

It really is not even enjoyable down there at night anymore. Can we start a petition or something to crack down on this loitering and thug problem.

What exactly is the problem? I'm confused by this thread (not hard to do, BTW). Are crimes being committed downtown at night? If so, what crimes are these "thugs" committing exactly?
Who exactly is "infiltrating?" Teenagers? College students?

Come on now does everything have to come back to race Its just a city I love and I dont want to see it handed over to crime and fighting. It is no secret to the people who are down there who is involved in these actions, dont call me a racist, I am far from that. It is apart of a growing city, i just dont want to stand back and watch it take over

I don't live in Greenville but was very interested in possibly moving there in the near future. I have been reading this forum for a while and enjoying all the pics of the city. The downtown area is great and should be something to be proud of. It looked like a very healthy and vibrant area and a fun place to live. Then I was looking on YouTube for Greenville topic and saw a video taken by a group of young adults or old teens of themselves wandering around downtown looking for whou knows what. The area was also almost deserted. Everyone had no hair not that it was significant of anything, just interesting. That immediatley turned me off about the area. Maybe that is unfair since it is just one video but it kind of relates to what's being discussed here. I hope I am not offending anyone by commenting here. That is certaining not my intention.

Fighting and causing trouble in public is a crime though a small one thats where it all starts. And its teenagers who are not old enough to go into bars so they hang out and cause trouble. I dont really see mid-aged people out there doing this stuff. I have no problem with teens hangin out, but 100 of them just standing around yelling and sometimes fighting each other, people dont want to be around that, or do they, maybe I am just to boring?

Here we go again
Ok, if you don't like what's happening down town, then do something about it. How about starting something for these "thugs" to do, like, a midnight basketball league or youth out reach program? It's easy to sit here and point the finger at something you don't like but it's even harder to do something constructive about it, other then to yell "cops" when you're trying to walk some place (which is something that can get your hurt anywhere you go).
Downtown Greenville is no where near the South Side of Chicago (have you been, g-vegas?).
Bottom line is put up, or shut up.
