Downtown Greenville is no where near the South Side of Chicago (have you been, g-vegas?).
Bottom line is put up, or shut up.

Yes I have been there, many times. I was joking about the yelling "cops" Im sorry I forgot it is not politically correct to joke these days, i have to remember everyone gets offended these days. If I had the money and the influence I would have no problem starting an outreach program there "drizzle". There is no problem with me being a concerned citizen, and not a passive one like you. Well I will stop caring I guess. Apperently people on the forum dont mind letting people do whatever they want in the city, that being the case it will be like the southside of chicago soon enough

I didn't think your "cops" comment was politically incorrect. I for one would not yell that in a crowd when
A: you're not a cop or
B: there are none around
It's just not a safe thing to do, where ever you're at.
I'm being passive on the issue because I don't see where there is a problem. It's your ball to run with, not mine.

Teenagers with nothing to do is a problem just about everywhere, especially teenagers that don't have the money to go to the movies, skating, out to eat all the time. I don't think it's a racial problem as much as it is a socioeconomic one. Perhaps someone could come up with a free weekly event that these same teens can attend while hanging out downtown. This will give them something to do besides getting into fights and playing loud music.

Winston-Salem, where I just moved from, tried that last year, and the kids still got in fights.

I have been thinking for several months that the new large park just west of downtown will likely become a great gathering place for youth looking for somewhere free to hang out.
I visited the upper plaza of Falls Park earlier today, looking for any signs of vandalism from the late evening "swarms" of black kids that everyone has been talking about for the past month now. The only negative elements I found were lots of pieces of gum stuck on the walls/benches and on the ground, a few cigarette butts (perhaps not from this group), and a busted recessed light in one of the rock walls. Overall, not much to complain about, if this is a supposedly hostile crowd. I will say however, that I hate litter of any kind and anyone leaving cigarettes or gum on public plazas instead of in the trash should pay an extra stiff penalty because getting a piece stuck on your shoes or clothing can ruin your day. There are no shortage of trash cans everywhere in downtown Greenville, so it is simply a matter of disrespect to toss or stick it on public surfaces that will then be much more difficult to clean.
For those curious about this late turn of events, rest assured that this isolated occurrence in no way lessens the experience you can still enjoy every night in beautiful Downtown Greenville. The romantic and cosmopolitan flavor of the place shall not be overtaken by this minor disturbance, since the rich, high quality atmosphere we love is much larger and more deeply rooted in our dynamically diverse collection of cultures interwoven throughout this city.

I agree with that. I really do think some kind of event for teens would be great, I know they have the fyi teens center right across from the falls, it would be great to be able to expand that program somehow, I would much rather my tax money go to that then some of the other things they find to use it for Well I did not mean to start a forum riot, i was just bringing up a concern, sorry if i offended anyone. I am not trying to cause any problems, just would love to see teens doing something other than sitting around being babysat by the police, thats all.

I happen to be 20 years old. Thanks. I'm too busy working on Friday and Saturday nights to get into that crap.

Why is everyone complaining? I thought change was good.
I'm a teenager and I'll be first to tell you that teens are more likely to get into fights.
