Good docs in the area of Simpsonville?
Hi Everyone,
We are moving to the Simpsonville area in the fall from Florida. We will need doctors for our checkups when we get there. Any good docs that you all would recommend?
We will be looking for internal medicine docs..any help would be appreciated...

Depends where in Simpsonville, but my wife and I go to Premier Family Medicine off Butler Road (kinda near Woodruff). We've always had good experiences.

Floridagal2 how did you decide finally to move Simpsonville? We are also looking to move to Greenville as soon as we sell our home in FL. We have visited twice and love the area and the downtown area is great. The people are nice and friendly. We really dont know where we want to move to. Is it Mauldin or Taylors or where?? so how did you make your final decision. If you dont mind sharing, curious to know.
Hopefully, we can learn something from it.
Thanks for your feedback!

Dr. Cassandra Bray. I've only seen her once but she is very thorough. On Thursday, I saw my regular physician about my blood pressure and he recommended I see an Internal Medicine Physician. I informed him that I would like to see someone as soon as possible.
Dr. Bray saw me on a Friday, some physicians won't see new patients on a Friday. She asked plenty of questions and she took my blood pressure at least 15 times. Dr. Bray offered to loan me a blood pressure monitor but I had already ordered one. She spent over an hour with me. Her office is off of Roper Mountain.

Thank You All! I certainly will check it out...Fun4Me, three couples from Florida bought property outside Simpsonville last year. My husband and I came up and looked around and decided we would do the same. We live in Florida and our home is up for sale also...
We found the people to be very nice and very friendly. I liked the idea of living near a bigger city but enjoy the country also. The area is close to the mountains, coast, and a days ride back to Florida to visit our son. It was a good match for us. I love the seasons.
Good luck in your search for the right place for you!

Moving to Simpsonville!
Floridagal2
Thanks for your feedback! Did you find the land to be reasonably priced?
My question is because when we visited the first time, we met with a realtor and he suggested not to buy land. He said it's hard to buy land and build without being in a subdivision. It seemed right since we are not familiar with the area or builders. For example, visited several subdivisions and fell in love with Ryan's homes. However, our thoughts were that maybe we can build the same of similar on our own lot for way less.
I think he was trying to protect our interests since he mentioned a few times that if we did decide to build we needed to make sure of who the builder was.
If you don't mind sharing your thoughts and experience on this.....>>>are you waiting to sell your home in FL to start building?
Maybe we can buy close to you and your FL friends!LOL All FL transplants.
Thanks for your help!

Hi Floridagal2,
Welcome to Simpsonville! There is a bit of an MD crunch in the area and it's a bit difficult to see an internal med physician, as a new pt. It think it is a wise choice to go with an internal med MD, but you may find it less taxing to initially choose a family practician until you can get in to see someone else. That's just my 2 cents.

Hey there! Thats a good idea, Bisquits&Gravy. I, myself have been in the medical field for several years. My husband had a medical problem and we will need to make sure he has his checkups.
We found our land to be pretty reasonable. We have two acres. It is on a street of homes but ours is amoung the smallest lot. They go up to ten acres, I think. Hey! The more the merrier is what I say. We will wait till our home sells here in New Smyrna Beach. Thank goodness hurricane Ike is turning. I thought we might get that big guy our way! We are retiring and so are our friends. They will move up sometime in 2009.

(Wanted to respond to the above posts, please take no offense.)
I cringe when a lay person (directly or indirectly) states that family medicine physicians are somehow inferior to their internal medicine colleagues. We treat exactly the same medical problems and (potentially) offer a wider scope of practice than internists. I know several internists that would shriek at the thought of performing a pap.
All board certified Family Medicine physicians train for 3 rigorous years (after medical school) and must pass several qualifying tests. Training involves not only internal medicine but also surgery, peds, GYN and even obstetrics.
I urge those outside of the medical establishment to go to the American Academy of Family Physicians and obtain facts about our specialty:
The Specialty -- American Academy of Family Physicians
Now, if you happen upon an excellent Family Medicine physician - hold onto to them - they can treat the whole family!
