I asked about Hyundai mechanics specifically, but evidently there are no Hyundai drivers here. My car wouldn't start yesterday, but did today. I know, that probably means I am going to have car trouble again soon.

Anyway, I went to the cartalk website and looked up local repair shops there. The following seemed to get good reviews, but there was one shop that I thought was awful where I moved from that got good reviews, so I'm guessing that only happy people brag on their mechanics there!

Do any of you use the following?

Jim Beam Service Center
Marions Auto Service
North Hills Automotive

If so, what was your experience?

I have heard good things about North Hills Automotive, but I do not have any direct experience with them. I usually just take my car to a dealership.

I had a bad experience (very poor customer service) at North Hills on Wade Hampton Boulevard and haven't been back since. I also heard from a friend about poor service at the Augusta Road location. Contrary to both of those locations, I have been more than adequately satisfied by the service at the Byrdland Drive location. One of my favorite shops in the Upstate has been Graydon Tire and Automotive on S.C. 14 in Greer.

By the way, a co-worker of mine drives a Hyundai, so there are others in the area.

Oh, I know that there are others in the area, I see them around, but there don't seem to be any here. I did actually stop and ask a Hyundai owner in a parking lot, but he recommended the local dealer and I don't like to go to dealers on just one recommendation, as some people only go to dealers, but I have had good and bad experiences going that route.

Gotta give my highest recommendation to Advantage Auto on Wade Hampton in Greer, right across from Dunkin Donuts. I've been a customer there for a few years now and the owner is fantastic to deal with. Very honest, inexpensive for repairs and he knows his stuff.

if I need something small(brakes, oil change, tires, muffler) I go to browns tire and muffler, the owner is a great guy and they do great work there(for cheap!) I can't recommend a place for engine or transmission service for a hyundai though, I use Big O Dodge, because they get my car in and out in a day, and the customer service is always top notch
