Default Searching info in Union and nearby areas.

Hubby got a call for a job interview in the Union area. If he gets offered this job we'll have to move because we currently live almost 2 1/2 hours away. We'd like to buy a house if possible, but if we don't do that right away, how is renting in that area?

I did some mapping and its almost an hour from Greenville so where could possibly be any decent areas to live right in the middle between Union and Greenville. I don't know exactly where this company is located as of yet.

For buying, really don't want to buy over $50k if possible we can fix up, but don't want something completely run down or in a mill town. Like a little privacy but also if we rent, not expensive, $350-$400 if possible at most. We have pets, so no apartments.

We're both in our 20s, no children.

Any information is appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

well, has he had the interview yet? hope it all works out. not too familiar with union. my folks are currently renting in greenville/taylors...something like 600-700/mo for a 1600 s/f home. not real sure, but you would think that it would be a "renter's market" as well b/c if people can't sell, perhaps they'd rent.

oh, and an apartment would work if you maybe pay extra for the pet thing. not sure what you might find for that monthly rate. check out apartmentfinder.com. if you know anyone in the area, spread the word that you're looking for a place to rent and maybe you'll get something cheaper.

They really want him but we decided to decline it because any extra money he'd make would get eaten up by gas (his travel would be an hour because the company wants to move to Duncan soon) and then higher rent. We have super awesome rent, $250 where we are now, and I know we won't find that again but expenses get tight, what can ya do. But, I still love the Greenville area vs Seneca so, we shall see how things play out for us.

We have 3 dogs and 2 cats, hard to do apartment living with and space.
