The Northlake community is pretty nice, but to me anyway, seems to be showing its age (20+ years old) a bit. There's another new condo development nearby, just across the lake near the US 76/I-85 interchange, can't think of the name of it off-hand.

The Anderson area does get the occasional tornado, but certainly not as bad as the Midwest/Great Plains. Not enough to be worried about.

All in all, I think you'll really like Anderson. Plenty of nice, reasonably priced homes, low taxes, and friendly people. And, if you have the need to spend a weekend in the big city, Atlanta and Charlotte are only 2 hours away.

Hey Lois,
We are actually moving to the Greenville area in 3 weeks. We loved Anderson and have friends who live there but unfortunately the job market was a bit tough in Anderson and my husband being in the IT field felt it would be better if we lived closer to Greenville. We are actually on our way down this weekend to get things started and register our kids for school.

I hear ya about the taxes in New York we also were paying $6000.00 a year in both school and property and what's the deal with the NY senate?? Seems like lots of people are leaving New York.

Good Luck and I hope you enjoy your visit to Anderson the people in South Carolina couldn't be nicer!!
Margie

Thank you Lone Rooster and Margiem3 for all the info.

Hi Margie,
The NYS Senate is a disgrace, they should all be fired and have a new election.
Because of their childish behavior the tax payers are looking at possibly another 24% increase in property.
Where in NY did you move from?
We were born and raised on Staten Island. Moved upstate to Saugerties '83. Purchased 6.1 acres in Cairo '97,designed the house on the computer and my husband and I built it ourselves. We have 375ft frontage on Catskill Creek. We love it here. Thought we'd be here forever but the taxes are driving everyone out of the state.
We've been to NC nice but there's alot more for your $ in SC and we must be near a lake to kayak etc.
We are really excited about coming down.
Do you know of a good real estate agent?
Wish you luck and happiness in your new place,
Lois

Hi Lone Rooster,
We are looking for a house. How big of an area is Norht Lake? Are there any other communities near the lakes? We are looking for a few wooded acres.
We also like the fact, you pointed out, about being in a close proximity to the big cities.
Would you know of a good real estate agent in the area?
Thanks for your help,
Lisk50

The condo development across from Northlake is Overlook. It is newer, but does not have a boat dock, only has a swimming dock. There is also the Watermarke right there also but it is much higher, very nice.
