Mom and I went to the Haywood Rd location a few weeks ago for lunch. We got there as the lunch crowd was beginning to leave and it was as others said really noisy. Once the crowd left it was better but I would not suggest you go there if you intend to hear your companion(s) speak.
Food was good. Mom commented that several things were the same as Rafferty's. Mom had the prime rib sandwich and said it was delicious; thinly sliced with a cup of aujus. I had a pizza since I am still looking for "the one" and while it was good, I will probably order something different if we should go back again. If you are looking for a quite dining experience you will not find it here.

Totally digressing here, but what you did is such a Southern thing, it cracks me up. My roommate use to do the exact same thing, "Mom's coming to visit", "Mom's car broke down", etc. I finally asked him if we were long lost brothers since we obviously shared the same mom. He never, ever said, "My mom." lol He also always says, "We'll talk to you later" as he's hanging up the phone. I used to say, "Who's we, you and your multiple personalities?"
Okay, you may now return to the actual topic at hand.

Favorite place to go for any occasion
I eat at Copper River all the time, especially at the Haywood location since it is right around the corner from my house. I always get great food and friendly service. The portions are really big, so I usually have enough to share or take home for a meal the next day. The quality of the food is unmatched, and the cozy fireplace and open kitchen gives an upscale atmosphere. My husband loves the huge desserts, especially the homemade banana pudding - yummy!

It's great to see a locally-based company doing well. We went to the Haywood Rd. location right after it opened. Can't remember what we had, but I remember wanting to return!

The food was okay, but the prices were pretty good. It was loud.

I am surprised to find out this is such a small chain and based here in the upstate. they should play into that more, it might get them more business. I've never visited them because i had assumed it was a large nationwide chain and I can't bring myself to eat at those places(Ruby Tuesdays, Red Robin, Fridays, etc.) anyway I'll have to make a visit sometime soon and check it out for myself, sounds like the reviews are mixed???

They do have a variety of sandwiches, burgers and stone-fired pizzas for lunch or casual dining, or dinner is where they really shine with excellent ribs and a 10 oz filet that will melt your mouth! My wife also had the Kodiak chicken and it was delicious. We both had the house salad and it was freshly prepared and had chopped eggs, bacon and ham and served with a warm croissant drizzled in honey-butter. I would recommend the Copper River Grill to anyone without hesitation. It has become one of my favorite restaurants and every time I go I get something different and am pleasantly surprised by just how good it is. Great food and the prices are reasonable. Two thumbs up.

Hey, we check out almost everything new that comes along, just to see what folks are putting into our area. Those chain places aren't haute cuisine, but they serve their purposes well. I used to LOVE Max & Erma's - best French onion soup on the planet, and GREAT Long Island teas!

I agree that sometimes chain places can have good food, but being an ex-chef and working in almost every aspect of the restaurant business, i'm just turned off by the techniques used by most chain places for quality controls sake. It doesn't necessarily have to do with flavor, more with having actual meat, vegetables and pasta or what have you made specifically for me when I order it, not frozen this and frozen that heated up and put together in a specific pattern to meet standards, its just not what I want to eat when I go out.

For me, no matter where I go, it's a kind of "don't ask, don't tell" sort of thing. I can only imagine what has the potential to go on in the kitchen of any establishment. I just choose to put that out of my mind, if I see something tempting, and enjoy!..... Here in Greenville. :-)
