Can't help ya, Greenville. I'd like to know, though, where the Chicago hot dog stand on Main Street Street. Every time I think to look for it, it's not there. Downtown Dogs, are you still around somewhere?

Wingate Restaurant has a great dog, which they claim is a Cincinnati Style Hot Dog. Never had one of those in Cincy, but if they taste like the Nathan hot dog that Wingate makes in Downtown Simpsonville . . . they got to be GREAT!!!

Hi Im trying to start up a hot dog cart in the upstate area. Spartanburg, Greenville, or any area thats within about 45 minutes or so of Spartanburg and I need a commercial kitchen to let me clean my cooking utensils and store a couple packs of hot dogs 3-5 days a week. I will only be in the kitchen maybe 5 or 10 minutes a day. I will pay reasonable rent to the owner of the kitchen, just let me know what you would charge. If you have a kitchen or know of a kitchen I can use please let me know. I have to have it to pass inspection at the health department. Thanks!

Tanners Big Orange
Just scanned quickly through the pages and didnt see Tanners Big Orange in Greenville on S. Pleasantburg mentionied. They might be old and some might stick their nose up at it but I like those "old-school" places that have been around a while. Everything there is great.
Dont let your first reaction keep you away.

We have also added two other authentic Chicago foods - the Italian Beef and Italian Sausage. In addition to that we have more traditional Southern style dogs. My aunt ran the lunch counter at Varner's drug store in Brevard, NC and we use her chili recipe. It reminds me of my childhood every time I taste it.
Anyway, I am proud to be bringing some authentic Chicago foods here and hope that many of the folks here will come see us. We will do our best not to kill ya! :-)
Thanks,

If you don't find the cart near Nuvox Communications, try down the street in front of The Greenville News building. That is where I have seen it recently.

I too am a native of the Chicago land, and would love a good italian beef. It gets expensive having it shipped here along with a good Chicago pizza.
