We will be in the Greenville area next week and would like suggestions for restaurants. We are looking for locally owned restaurants and hope to get a feel for the area. Please no chains. See you next week!

Check out Metromix Greenville for decent information about many local restaurants, bars, and nightclubs. Do you have a price range or style/ethnic preference in mind?

By the way, that link does not include many very good restaurants for some odd reason. If you like delicious grilled meats, try Rio Grille on South Main Street. It is an authentic Brazillian steakhouse, with wonderful salad items and a good bar as well.

Thank you, I looked at Metromix but I was looking for more of a personal referral and some local favorites. We were in town in June and ate at Bergamos, Soby's, Justins Steakhouse, Larkins on the River, the Lazy Goat, Smoke on the Water, and some Mexican restaurant on Main St.
Cheap to expensive is fine as is any cuisine but the emphasis is on local not chain. Thanks for any advice.

Could you give me an idea of what type of restaurant(s) you might be looking for? That'll really help with my recommendations.

If you're willing to drive a little, Grits and Groceries in Belton is phenomenal.

I second Sassafras downtown. Great Southern food in an upscale atmosphere, and the location is great. It's worth a try.
