First Citizens Bank Building
I really like the look of the First Citizens Bank Building off of McBee. Can anyone give some information about it? How old is it? Is it used by a lot of businesses? I see the Coldwell banker realtor sign has been out front for a long time now. Is the building for sale? Who owns it? I think it is the nicest building downtown and was just wondering a bit more about it.

That is the former Duke Power building, constructed in the 1990s. It also features a custom chandelier in the lobby, which weighs over two tons. The nearby Greenville Water Works building is very interesting as well, complimenting the Colonial American architecture quite well.

Here is a photo of the First Citizens Bank building, as seen from the Main Street Bridge in the West End. I spruced it up a bit to give it an "antique painting" appearance:

I have been told that when Duke Power built this building, they used only handmade bricks; the cost was tremendous. Their new management methods call for outsourcing collection points and certain customer services to reduce costs and increase profits, so they sold the building to First Citizens, who leases some areas of the huge building - thus the realtor sign. It outshines the wonderful Water Works building, built on the same site as the Vardry McBee home which was a real mansion in early Greenville - but both are fabulous.
