Default Will the Greenville Area Lose People in the Near Future?

I was doing some research and find out that South Carolina is not doing good in this economic slowdown! SC has a high unemployment rate because of job losses! I kind of realize that the Greenville-Spartanburg area kind of give SC a boost! Will someone answer this for me?

Nobody is doing good in this economic slowdown except for maybe Texas. No, I don't see this area losing population. It will continue to gain population. Several companies are laying off but several companies are also hiring.

I'm from Alabama, and I do a lot of research on Huntsville! According to several websites, Huntsville is one of few cities in the nation that is doing pretty good in the slowdown. Huntsville is one of the best places to live during these times!

Wow this sounds like something I told you when you were convincing the whole world on the political forum how bad Greenville was doing. Nice turnaround

Correct. Both cities are in the top five and that's good.

I don't like being pessimistic but it seems there's a chance that might not be for long.

My ex lives there and works at Chrysler and they've been in bad shape for years (he had to take a pay cut a couple of years ago and lots of people who qualified took early retirement) but this time it sounds pretty serious. In December they were all laid-off for a month (don't know if he's back to work) and he's been afraid he could lose his job altogether as well as many others since there are two plants over there. Once a big employer like them crashes the entire economy of the area is affected.

For his sake I'm praying Chrysler recovers of course, but I think you need to keep watching Hsv carefully before deciding.

Yeah, it would be like BMW closing up shop here. The effects would be devastating.

What about General Electric? People seem to forget about it. Its been putting money into Greenville for years, maybe even more than BMW which is really in Spartanburg. How about Michelin, Lockheed Martin, Cryovac, Honeywell, I can go on and on. Greenville is much more than just BMW.
