Just about anywhere outside of Greenville has a country feel, especially north and west. Depending on how far away you want to live, there's northern Greenville County, most of Pickens County, Oconee County, and parts of Spartanburg County. Towns include Landrum, Travelers Rest, Dacusville, Pickens, Blue Ridge, just to name a few.

Don't forget beautiful northern Anderson County! Areas surrounding Powdersville, Wren, Piedmont, Pelzer, and Williamston include fantastic countryside with occasionally spectacular mountain views. I especially love the Melton Road vicinity, surrounding Stoneridge Equestrian Center. With that said, one of my favorite portions of the "Greenville" countryside is around the Dacusville and Pumpkintown areas, near Eden Farms.

I love the fact that you have a variety of choices available in the Greenville area, depending on whether you want to be in the mountains/foothills, near them, on a rolling "prairie" meadow, or a densely wooded homestead. Homes range from small cabin to luxury mansion.

I highly recommend the blue Ridge area, up Hwy 101. It's getting a little more developed now, but it's still 'country' to me. My aunt and uncle live up Glassy Mountain Rd, and it's gorgeous up there!! Complete with cows, horses, and pasture; in fact the subdivision we lived on was called 'Blue Ridge Farms'. LOL
