There's no space on the lower level that fits Apple demographics from what i've seen. My guess is a store is going to relocate and Apple will go there. I've been hearing the Children's Place will do this.

Late 2009/early 2010 is opening. It will be a while before you see construction occur on tenant spot.

It would almost seem more logical to go downtown for apple, except that obviously iPlace is already in place. I know that everyone I know prefers downtown 1000fold over the Haywood Small.

Small? LOL. Haywood Mall is the largest mall in the state.
