Default Need help buying a lot and finding contractor

My husband and I are moving to Greenville from Iowa this spring and would like to build a home for around $400,000. We would like a subdivision that is at least half complete or more with lots of at least .4 of an acre and lots of trees!! We have 2 little boys who will be in kindergarten within 2 years and I have heard Oakview, Buena Vista and Bells Crossing are excellent- does anyone recommend any subdivisions?? Any general contractors that you've used and trust? We looked at Alleghany, Tuxedo Park when we were down there- does anyone know anything about them. We liked locations off of Woodruff like Laurel Lake......please help!! Thanks!

Smile Contractors in Greenville

There are many nice subdivisions in Greenville, though many are very cookie cutter like there is an abundance of choices in the 400 range.

If you are really interested in contractors, and specifically a home builder it will really depend on the type of home you want. Custom home? Already have plans? Want standard builder quality or premium, or luxury quality, interested in green/energy saving alternatives, etc. Also many builders already own the lots in subdivisions, so if you are building then you may only have one choice when you want 'that lot'.

Ok, you may already know all that... if you really need a contractor I suggest you visit ContractorButler.com, a local Upstate Company that allows users to post thier project or need, and local licensed and insured contractors will respond online. If they do not already have a 'good fit' contractor, they will find one or several for your consideration. It's all FREE to use.

The service works great for re-locators, because they keep GC's on that can help manage projects for you, or just serve as a consultant to make sure your contractors or builders are doing what you want. Likewise the site keeps communications documented and filed. I think there is a small fee for this though. You get the idea.
