Life at Clemson is great. I can speak from personal experience as I graduated in 2001. Campus Jobs are plentiful during the school year. As far as average expense a month, not much as a freshman. You have to stay on campus, so no living costs. But off campus with roommates would run about $600/month + utilites. Depends on if you do a meal plan. But other than that you only have your monthly entertainment...which in Clemson is going downtown, hanging out with friends or the trip to Greenville.

Nightlife at Clemson is good for a college town. Wouldn't say good for bikers...don't know where you heard that. Clemson is good for sports during football season, but other than that a nice college atmosphere. Just not as large as other universities. There are the staples of downtown, the Esso and Tiger Town Tavern. A couple other places that I really weren't around when I was there. But I never had a problem of being bored while I was there. Actually, I consider it some of the greatest times of my life.

Clemson is a fun college town (i.e., the town is built around the university). There is plenty to do, both on campus and off. The downtown area has a good selection of stores, restaurants, and definitely bars. Thursday night is the official "going out night," and unofficially marks the start of the weekend (even if you go to classes on Friday). Greek life is big, but there is plenty to do even if you decide not to do a fraternity or sorority. And of course, there are plenty of great majors from which to choose. There is probably a class for anything you wish to learn about. Despite how fun the university and town are, you really will get an excellent education there. Put in your time with your studies, and you won't regret it.

I am not sure who told you that Clemson is a nice place for bikers. You don't see too many motorcycles there. It is probably a good place for cyclists. Perhaps that is what someone was trying to tell you.

Greenville is the closest big city, and it is 30-45 minutes away. There is a lot to do there, especially in the downtown area. Shows, restaurants, bars, shopping - you name it. It is definitely worth a trip on the weekends. Anderson is about 15-20 minutes away in another direction. It is bigger than Clemson but not nearly as big as Greenville.

Have fun, and let us know if you have any questions! Go Tigers!

There used to be a small sports bike club, there's a good number of people with motorcycles/mopeds that ride them to classes and such, and there are some beautiful roads to ride, but I certainly wouldn't say Clemson is a big place for bikers.
