Major interstate repaving to take place. (I-185, I-385, I-85)
John Owings, Greenville County manager of current planning, said the map indicates resurfacing of I-85 through Greenville County, I-385 from Woodruff Road to about Simpsonville and I-185 from about Greenville's Grove Road to I-85. Non-stimulus money is being used to resurface I-85 from White Horse Road to U.S. 29 in Anderson, he said.
$13.8 million in transportation stimulus money to resurface Upstate roads | GreenvilleOnline.com | The Greenville News
FINALLY. Great news.

And not a moment too soon. It seems like the potholes have really grown in the last few months.

I am intimately familiar with every crack and hole along I-85 in Greenville and most of Spartanburg County. I have watched them grow (and have occasionally felt them) for several years now. All I can say is that IT'S ABOUT TIME!!! We pay taxes just as often as people living in other parts of the state, but our roads have been neglected by the state for too long.

Yeah, and the road repaving for the most part is getting paid for with stimulus money Skyliner. Imagine what our roads would be like without the stimulus package.

We're paying for that too, g-man. We'll still be paying for that stimulus many, many years to come. I've always been in favor of raising taxes specifically for roads and transportation, but most of the stimulus will not benefit me, even though I will continue to be robbed by the government to for it.

You're going to pay taxes with or without a stimulus. We could be in a surplus and you still pay. It doesn't bother me. I'm glad they are putting it to use for somethings that I might actually agree with, which I didn't before and was still paying.

I'm for raising the gas tax myself. Personally, I think more of the stimulus money should have gone to infrastructure and mass transit.

According to this link, I-385 in Mauldin NORTHBOUND ONLY and I-185 NORTHBOUND ONLY are going to get repaved: http://www.scdot.org/inside/pdfs/ARR...ts-3-23-09.pdf What about the southbound lanes? Those have potholes too.
