Default Wholesale Bakery that makes Italian bread?

Hi,

I'm looking for something very specific; I need a bakery that makes Italian Bread; i.e baguette. It's kinda like french bread, but a little different. Basically it's crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside, about 12 inches long. Whole Foods makes them, but it isn't practical/economical to buy them in bulk. This kind of bread is pretty regional to the South Jersey area, so not sure if it's available here. Thanks

I have purchased Chicago Italian bread at Publix. It is very good, with the crispy crust and chewy-soft inside.

There are lots of bakeries in the area, so I'm sure it wouldn't be too difficult to locate what you're looking for.

I'm not sure what area you are in but there was an Italian restaurant in Georgetown called LaRocca that recently went out of business. He had excellent bread, the type you described. I believe the owner was from the Philly area. He said that he took a recipe to a bakery in Surfside (he would not divulge which one) and they produced it specifically for his place. If I run into him again, I'll inquire since the restaurant is no longer open. Maybe you can investigate a little and find out.

Edit: Didn't realize that this was in the Greenville section. Sorry, Surfside is a little out of the way!
