Default back from Simpsonville end of story.lol.

Our last night we went to the "city" down in Greenville. It took 15 minutes MAYBE to get there. It was beautiful. The real estate guy said it is like there Manhattan. As we were driving in there was a concert hall which looked to me like our Nassau Collisium...but nicer. There was NO traffic to get in or out. They have the story of Goodnite Moon around town where it's set up for the kids to find little metal mice around the city very cute. Now the best part..you MUST see the suspension bridge with the water under it OMG.. breath taking. They have alittle area set up where they do concerts kind of like our concerts at the park same thing.I could see myself being happy walking through the city with my kids and knowing i'm SAFE!!!
I was content in seeing Simpsonville even though it was alittle empty? maybe compaired to NY but knowing it will be built up and they do have shopping local..but once I saw the city and knowing it's a hop, skip and jump to get there and easy access.I was sold!!How can you go wrong?you have affordable homes, safe/clean neighborhoods, area being built up, good schools, sports, etc then you have also local shopping, concerts, the city, etc.?? You can't beat it!!
One word of advice.. just get your coffee fix now before you leave since the coffee just isn't the same there. Even the 7-11 or Wawa's there just doesn't taste the same. If you want tea they give you 1/2 and 1/2 not milk.Burger king makes you buy a pint of milk if you want it. Board of health does not require them to put gloves on either to serve your food so don't look like they have 5 heads like I did and be told we are clean enough! lol. It was just a question. But all in all we are sold!People who saw our house yesterday we are told liked it.Pray for a sale would ya??They said they were going away and calling the RE agent when they got back.
Anyhow, I can't wait to move.lol.if anyone has questions email me.!

Thanks for filling us in on your trip Laura..Are you planning to move to Simpsonville or actually the city of Greenville? I continue to see homes on the websites by MCCAR builders that look very nice and quite reasonable. They have homes in Greenville. Good luck, hope your sale goes through. Keep us posted!

Laura,
I just read your post to my wife and she said, "great, now everyone knows the secret place" lol. You're right it's beautiful, and we can't wait to make it our full time home. We went downtown 5 of the 6 nights we were there. On most weekends they close ofMain Street and have parades, concerts and the like. Just awesome. LibertyBridge @Reedy Park/Falls is amazing. I wanna go now.

We are planning on going to Simpsonville. I was very happy with the area and i'm kind of funny like that...If I like something... I just go with it. I don't look further.lol.
Also, I have to tell you personally I am not crazy about McCar homes.JMO. My husband is in home improvements and while we were down there EVERY home we looked at with there name on it...the siding was buckeling and wavy. You saw it with your own eyes that you didn't need an expert to show you.Again, JMO.Some of the other builders we saw and liked were KB Homes, We saw Beazer in NC and they were nice..we know they are in SC but from what I understand not in Simpsonville, we saw Lenar, and friends of ours saw Ryan and Pointsett (I believe that's the spelling)...all these builders were pretty reasonable also. Remember you pay for a lot premium also.It is between $2000-$7000 depending on the lot.You also have your HOA fees if you go in a development. We saw from $240 a year to $450 depending on developments. You have to do your homework, kwim?My advice is to look at the basic home. You can do it online.Pick out the style home you like and do you own add on list. When we went to NC and were going to buy we thought that alot of the basics were just fine.Do you want cherry cabinets (that's extra) or maple (basic), kwim? The upgrades we wanted were more or less stuff I know my husband would NEVER get to and wouldbe hard to do it after. You can cut costs EASY this way.I know berber rugs were almost $3000 but the basic rugs are not like they are here. There kitchen hardware and fixtures are crazy prices so this is stuff you can buy on the outside and do yourself if your handy. If you have the extra money then I would let them do it but with our big family the basic is better than what I have here that falls apart easy. Our upgrades were garden tub in the master, dual sink in bathroom for kids, hardwood floor in the diningroom, a kitchen island with electric and a wall of cabinets with a built in desk. Two things we were giving to ourselves were the fireplace ($2500)and intercom system that also plays music ($1000 I think). You could go nuts with the upgrades!!Everything is beautiful. Good luck to you and let me know how you do!

Thanks for letting me know about McCarr homes..I didn't know anything about them-not a builder I am familiar with. I may actually look for a resale home or spec. I don't think I will have the time to wait for a house to be built. The house I am in now was a new build and it cost me a fortune to landscape and do window coverings so if I could find a nice condition resale, that would work for me. I have noticed that different states have very different opinions of builders..not sure why unless it is something about inspections. KB homes have a very bad reputation in Arizona. Beazer homes seem to have improved..Lennar, I don't know anything about them even though they do build here. I have a Pulte home and would never go that route again. Thank you again for sharing your experiences on your trip

I have to agree fully Greenville has an awesome little downtown and the park is so cool to relax or take the kids to. When we were there last summer it was busy(not crowded though) kids and dogs running everywhere and having a good time. Plus they have that little amplitheatre there where they put on plays. Just really cool and very relaxing. The "Spill the Beans" ice cream shop across the street is great too if you didn't have a chance to go there. Great ice cream plus free WiFi

Is Greenville really an active little town? We are looking to relocate and I would love to check it out, but my husband seems to think it's out in the country, so to speak. He was focusing on the Myrtle Beach area. Just wondering if Greenville is something we should be considering.

Can anyone tell me more about it?

Smile We're visiting Simpsonville in Oct

It'll be our first trip to SC, looking to possibly relocate in a few years. Great info from all of you. I can't wait now. We're looking for a resale though, with abouit an acre of land. Housing prices seem to be better in SC than in FL where I currently live. About coffee......no Duncan Donuts or Starbucks in SC?
