Greenville SC Zip Codes
I will be selling my house in Providence, RI & getting divorced for the 2nd time in the next few months. Although I have family here in New England, I feel I need to make a major change in my life. I am planning to visit Greenville sometime in April/May to see if this is where I want to start my new life.
Although New England is beautiful, the people are rude and I am sick of the weather. I have Fibromyalgia & back problems and have just been approved for SSDI. I have felt the need to go to the Carolinas for many years.
My question is what zip codes in the Greenville area should I stay away from? I will be 58 in a few months, have 3 adopted pets (2 dogs/1cat), all of whom are senior friends. I know the change will be hard on all of us but I am thinking of this as a new adventure for a Better Life for the four of us.
I will be looking for a small 2 bed/2bath home in an established neighborhood. As this will be my last home, I would like to be where the Doctors, hospitals, shopping are relatively close (up to 10 miles is fine).
A place where there are sidewalks, fenced in yards and smiling people. Is this Greenville? Any suggestions will be helpful.
Thank you,
Debbie & Friends

sidewalks are rare here but you will find them in few areas.

Thank you for quick response. As long as the area is safe I'm sure I can get by without sidewalks. Hope I'm making the right decision. Thanks again.

Be careful with 29605 since stretches all the way down to the Mauldin area.
There are great sidewalk areas in the 29680, 29650, 29601, 29662, and more. You may also want to compare homes you find in your searches to this website: Get Your Walk Score - A Walkability Score For Any Address
It's a pretty cool website, which will show that houses proximity to conveniences such as grocery stores, banks, etc. The site will actually atrribute a "score" to a certain address based on its proximity to those things.

Mauldin is 29662 and please let's be clear that Mauldin is not bad in anyway. If you moved here you could join the sports club; it's relatively cheap and has a walking track pass and it's inside and you'll meet lots of cool people; one of them might be my Dad! Or you could walk the track at Sunset Park also in Mauldin.

Oh, I didn't mean that Mauldin was bad at all, I like Mauldin. pgriss just mentioned 29605 is close to downtown, but the majority of 29605 is south of I-85. Plus, a lot of the 29605 area near Mauldin doesn't have sidewalks, which is something the OP requested.
I, as well as many others, like Mauldin a lot. Plus, a good portion of Mauldin could totally be considered a walkable area.

Thoughtfullness
I want to thank everyone who has responded to my post. Going through so much in such a short time can be overwelming at times and to have strangers help me with what is going to be my future home is wonderful.
Starting tomorrow, I have decided to spend a few hours everyday researching the zip codes & the Mauldin area. Today I received some information from the Greenville Chamber of Commerce and will be looking at that tonight. Just reading the post welcoming me to SC actually made me excited about starting over. This might seem sappy to some but your replys made me feel that there are nice people out there willing to help others.
Thank you again.
