Okay. Our search is getting a little more serious.

What areas in and around Greenville would you recommend I search for housing?

We're a family of 4--parents in 40s with two elementary-age boys. We homeschool now and probably will continue, so schools aren't a huge priority (though they may be in the future).

Hubby's job would be with Lockheed and he'd prefer to keep his commute under 30 minutes if possible.

Close proximity to a great library would be nice.

Ideal house would be in a friendly neighborhood, 3-4 bedrooms, priced under $150k.

Any insights would be most helpful! Thanks.

3-4 bedrooms under 150K isn't going to get you a large house but it can be done. Lockheed is practically in my backyard...I know a neighborhood of cookie cuter houses that would be a quick commute and keep within your budget and a commute that is near non-existent. I may even know of a home of a Lockheed employee that is for sale. If you don't mind cookie cuter neighborhoods, let me know.

Thanks, myrc!

I'm open to cookie-cutter, at least temporarily. I imagine once we're actually there for a year or two we'll have a better idea of exactly what we want (and where).

Does the neighborhood have a name? Is it outside of Greenville or right in it? (I'm still trying to figure out the names down there.)

Blue Heron circle Standing Springs Road area seems to have houses in your price range. This was just a quick search and one realtor who had 3 of 4 homes in that area under $150,000. Looked small but cute and fairly new looking.

ETA: I think, not positive the development is called Kingfisher no, it's called River Ridge in Simpsonville is right near Donaldson center. Journal homes shows nothing for sale but that's not true. Seems to be quite a few for sale. Kingfisher is the main street off Standing Springs Road

I sent you a DM LCM with a link to the property listing. If you do a search you will likely find many properties in this neighborhood that are for sale.

I live in a house that might sell under $100k in a decent neighborhood... 2300 sq. ft.

Not a great school district, but if you're not concerned with schools you should consider Spartanburg. I live in Hillcrest. The commute would be about 35 minutes though...

Just a suggestion. =)
