Hey I'm young and drive all the way from simpsonville to go to rock springs, while there are alot of older people its a young church too. Not sure what service you went to but I go to the 10:55 service and its the one alot of younger people attend. Most of the younger crowd is in Sunday school during the 9:30 service since they only have Sunday school at 8 and 930 and services at 9:30 and 10:55. I would say to try it again, and not sure what age groups your looking for but the best way I got involved with my wife was attending a Sunday school class. Anyways I hope that helps out.

Hey there, keep in mind that there is no "perfect church" and while its a good idea to find a church that preaches solid doctrine, try to remember that going to church should be a good deal more about what you give to the body of believers and not so much about your needs and what you can get. I've been a "pastors kid" most of my life and have seen a lot of things that go on behind the scenes. A lot of problems are caused by those who need a particular kind of music or dress or whatever. I do, however, understand your need to find a church that fits and I hope you find what you are looking for!

Rocks Springs is too far for us. We did visit although I wouldn't chose it as our home church at this point even if it was close. We know sev. great families that attend though and they love it. We travelled about 30 min. to church before we moved. That becomes a strain for all the extra activities and if you go twice on Sunday AND for getting together with people that live too far away. When the gas was $4+/ per gallon it was bad and we get involved in everything we can so it was a problem that we want to avoid if possible.

Of course, no church is perfect-people attend them all ) Most areas do not have so many options as here. Since there are over 100 churches in such a small area to choose from, getting specific suggestions is a blessing! I know there are little gems hidden out there to discover, but there's a lot of months of searching too so we might as well start with ones that meet our needs the most until we find the one that we feel God wants us to serve and learn from. ) It's just not a simple process.

thanks all for the suggestions--I appreciate all of them!

(oh and we attended a church that didn't have church every Sunday night before, but chose awesome outreach programs for most Sunday evenings. We are open to other methods even though we did love it the way it was.)

One point which I don't believe has been mentioned yet is the importance of church culture. While things like church doctrine, preaching style, and worship style are obviously very important, I think the specific culture of the church is an often overlooked factor. A church's culture can make or break your experience there, and is something that is not always evident on the first visit. Do you want a church that expects you to be there every time the doors are open, or would you prefer to attend as you please? Do you want to be best friends with others who attend, or do you enjoy others at your church not knowing all of your business? Do you want to be in one or several of the church's small groups, or do you just want to attend on Sunday morning? Stuff like that.

Best of luck in your search!
