Greenville is not the town I would choose to use public transportation for my mode of transport.

I don't think anyone would choose to rely on public transportation here if they had another option.

Actually, I believe Mauldin and Simpsonville are about to get mass transit to Greenville. Its on the Greenville News website, so it is improving.

Yes, I've heard that too but I will believe it when there are busses on the road.

I understand. They seem very serious about becoming more connected to Greenville though and they should.

Will they have full routes throughout the other towns, or will they just pick up people from one point and take them to Greenville, like a commuter Park n' Ride? That would be useful, but not what's needed most, IMHO.

I don't think any particular information is out about stops and such for the Golden Strip line though I think they are in a hurry to get it operational.

The most recent article I found on GreenvilleOnline.com says there would have to be a 6-to-8 month feasibility study first. Another said the same but also said service could begin in October 2010. I just can't wait around for that. I didn't pick COBRA over my car so I could be healthy(ish) and stuck in the house twiddling my thumbs. That idea gets the , LOL!

There are places you can find like one bedroom apartments in Greenville for as low as $350/mo to $500/mo. Compared with the Charlotte metro area (where I currently am but plan on moving back to Greenville where I'm from), I think Greenville has a lot of affordable rentals. The strip of apartment complexes on Pelham road especially has apartments in that lower price range. I used to live at an apartment complex on that road a few years ago and paid $485 for a two bedroom/two bathroom.
