Exclamation What is with all of the negativity lately?

Ok, almost every single thread on here has turned into a heated debate and i'm personally getting sick of it. We can't even have a valid discussion anymore without somebody saying untrue things about the area. Anybody know what is with all of these forum members coming over here and posting only negative things lately? Why is this happening all of the sudden? What are these negative people trying to prove? Yes, there are bad areas of Greenville, but there are bad areas in EVERY mid-large city in this country. Anybody who says otherwise is a liar. Plain and simple.

I don't get it either. I checked out a lot of areas before I decided on Greenville, and it would never occur to me to go to the boards of the states/cities I decided against to tell everyone why. Heck, I rarely even look in on my homestates board anymore.

The negativity hasn't deterred me at all. We're flying in on Sunday to check the place out for ourselves .

Good for you. I think most logical adults realize the negativity is only coming from a select few who have posted their same dislikes over and over, trying to disrupt threads.

I hope you enjoy your visit.

Not sure where you are coming from, but if Greenville is for you - that's great! Compared to what I'm used to, it wasn't.

If not, I would hope you post the downside as well so others can have an accurate take on the city.

As for the "negativity", you've set up a straw man. The whole premise is wrong. You're assuming it's negativity. Perhaps it's other just sharing their opinion that doesn't line up with yours...so for YOU it's negative, but for someone else it may be a positive.

If you hate the area so much and you've voiced your opinion a million times over, why not just move on and stay in the New England threads? Usually when a person post the same things over and over, even after they have left the area then there is some underlying issue. Maybe you need counseling?

Diablo0 is on a distinguished road
He's just trying to get the point across that everyone talks about the sunny side of the city, the well developed areas but not many ever mention the parts of the city that are run down. For those interested in moving here but have never been here, to only talk about he areas of town that look great, well kept, great shopping... and not the rest, it could paint a false picture. He's just trying to play devils advocate in a sense to make sure the other side is told. If someone askes "Tell me about Greenville..." that person could be baseing their decision quite a bit on moving here by what you say since you actually live here. Why not tell them about both the good in the bad and let them choose if the city is right for them? Skyliners pictures are great and give a good representation for what downtown is and downtown does look great, but not everything in the area looks like downtown.

After reading some of JViello posts in the beginning I first thought "Well, that guys a dick!" but I applaud him now for trying to give people that are thinking of moving here the big picture instead of just informing people of the happy go lucky parts. If you going to give a review of a product or service, don't you usually list the Pros and Cons, why not do the same thing on reviewing the city?

Diablo0, I agree folks should get the "big picture" about the Greenville area which means the good and the bad. I disagree with you about applauding a poster whose experience comes from one shortened trip late last year. I don't understand how that poster's brief experience in this area can be considered a "big picture" view.
