Default Tell me all you know about Boiling Springs!!

Tell me all you know about Boiling Springs:

- Quality of schools - Spartanburg District # 2
- Quality of neighborhoods - which ones are best? Budget up to $250K
- Availability of shopping, restaurants, entertainment - Is there a local grocery store, Wal-Mart, Kohl's, clothing stores, Target, etc. - If possible, can you give me names of stores that are available
- Availability of extracurricular activities for kids - ie., baseball leagues, piano lessons, gymnastics lessons, competitive cheerleading, etc.
- Availability of teaching positions
- What are the demographics? Diverse population? Crime rate? - I've looked at the stats sites, but want to get a more personal outlook
- Are houses selling in the area? If we buy a house will it be hard to sell in the next three years or so? Is the area prospering and growing?

And anything else that you can think of..............

Thanks so much!

I can't answer the school / kids questions as I don't have children.

What I do know do is that Boiling Springs for the past several years has been the fastest growing area of Spartanburg. Developments are solid middle to upper middle class from what I have seen.....all price ranges. The area has easy access to I-85. As for demographics, I don't believe you'll find a good deal of diversity, again, pretty middle / upper middle class.

I know a person who bought there several years back and just sold their house for a handsome profit.

Boiling Springs is one of the fastest growing parts of South Carolina.

For shopping... there are a few grocery stores (An Ingles I believe? And a Super Wal-Mart) There are a bunch of food places.. Copper River Grill comes off the top of my head.

There's a lot to do... and pretty much all of the neighborhoods are great.

What you will encounter though is overcrowded schools, because they can't build new schools fast enough for the amount of people moving in. Though... the schools are really good schools all around.

On number 9 there's a Ingles and Bilo. In the same area there's Lowes, walmart, ruby tuesdays, chick fil a, various other fastfood. Plenty of places to eat around here. I don't have kids so I can't say anything about the schools. Where I'm at in Boiling Springs I can be on the eastside of spartanburg in about 10 minutes and pehlam road in greenville in about 25 minutes.

I know that we just bought a home there. We'll be back up on June 3rd with the moving truck from Florida. From what we've seen so far we really like it. On our fairly short block we have farms, an orchard, a machine shop of some sort, and family homes. It has a country feel yet as has been said there is plenty of shopping, restaurants, schools, highways etc close by so we're not out in the boonies. I know that I found out after we made the offer that it is not an incorporated city which keeps taxes lower and zoning restrictions out. One thing I was very happy to find our was that I will be able to start a business and run it from my home if I choose without a problem. Our next door neighbor sells fresh eggs and a house down the street sells birdhouses.

As for the schools, when I was doing my research I used greatschools.com and the schools in Boiling Springs received very high scores. We have one child that will be going to the elementary school and one to the junior high. We're all really excited about the move.

We close on our house in Boiling Springs in just about 3 weeks!!! I'm thrilled with the location (8 mins to work for me, 10 for DH) and our house is awesome. I can't wait to move.
