Default Boiling Springs Area

Greetings all,
We have been planning our move south. Sold our home in northern, IL and ready to go now! 10 years in the planning "dreaming" and here it is!
We're looking in the Boiling Springs area...anyone familiar? Their HS looks good on paper(online). Looking for feedback, if anyone has children in Boiling Springs high school.
Also, any good direction toward housing, communities, subdivisions. Thinking of possibly renting first year, to give us time to get to know area better...but if we find a home too good to pass up we may go for it.
Taking some home tours with a realtor over the July 14th weekend.
Sure could use some advice and/or area info from anyone familiar.

Thanks in advance.

My family moved to Boiling Springs last Nov from California and love it here. Boiling Springs has enough stores ( Super Walmart , Lowe's and many grocery stores) that you can get what you need close to home, but if you need to get to the mall it is only ten minutes to Spartanburg which is large enough town to find what you need. I have a six yr old that is in Oakland Elementary school. The school system seems to be great here. Oakland and another middle school are only a few years old. They are building a new school that is 5th grade only school that will be open this year. I my daughters school class size is 20 kids, in California she had 37 so we are happy about that. People say Hwy 9 the main road through Boiling Springs does get busy in the morning, but I don't see it being that bad.
Let me know if you have and other questions I will try to answer.
Scott

So glad to here you like it in Boiling Springs so well. Have you found certain developments better than others?

Have you heard any talk regarding the High School?..our daughter will be a freshman in the fall.

Did you and your family move for a job, or did you find work after you arrived?

We are coming down jobless as of yet, so seeking employment is quite high on our list of 'things to do' once we arrive.

We are coming from a small rural farming town with a small school district and would like to find the same in the area, so our daughter feels comfortable in her new school and all. It seems Boiling Springs is still pretty small with growth starting to arrive recently. Does that sound pretty accurate?

We've notice alot of the homes on the net are empty. Have you seen many folks having problems keeping their homes do to work and economy?

...are you sorry you replied yet? LOL Don't mean to load you with questions... just trying to compile all the info we can before we leave in August.

Thanks for all your incite.

Default comparing boiling springs to travelers rest

Hi, when I did a population comparison, these 2 towns come close, is Travelers Rest like Boiling Springs? I really liked Boiling Springs smaller feel but we need to be closer to Greenville for my husbands job so we are checking Travelers Rest. Thanks! Eileen

Sweet T ,

Boiling Springs schools are big by SC standards. The high school is AAAA. I moved to BSprings recently and love it. The high school has good arts and academics. (We've seen the drama and marching band). There are lots of new neighborhoods here. You can get a new 1400 sq foot home for about 110,000. There is also a gated community with mini-mansions at over $300,000. I love it here... plenty of restaraunts and shopping. They call this a bedroom community because no one wroks in the community. You will probably have to drive to spartanburg for most jobs. However, there is great access to both I-26 and I-85 so getting there fast is not a problem. Downtown spartanburg is accessible via 585 and high 9 and is about a 10-20 minute drive depending on where you are in boiling springs.

Hope this helps.
