Yes, we have used it many times. My folks fly into there from florida. They do however have a great price because of a discount airline. It only flies certain places. My inlaws came in from mn in atlanta. It was cheaper for them by alot. I do like the gville airport overall though. Easy in and out, clean and I felt safe. I even picked up my mom late one night and sat in the airport alone (female) for over an hour on a delay. Walking to the car was fine too. People do go to charlotte though too. Try ashville too.

Easley Town Center
Just an update on the Easley Town Center. I went to a Chamber Meeting the other day where there a guest speaker for Cedarwood Development. According to him the only store committed is the super Wal-Mart. There seems to be a little shortage of funds as well. They still have a lot of road construction to do as well. The chamber paper says the completion date is the fourth quarter of 2010. The paper says there will be a diverse mix of tenants but the speaker said only Wal Mart had committed. Hopefully it will get moving but I drive by it 3-4 times a week and it seems to be moving slow!

The project is 80% preleased. The only announced retailer is Walmart but many others have signed on including Best Buy and Kohl's. Currently, sewer work is taking place on site. The developers are waiting for the road improvements to start before beginning building stores. They want to coincide the store openings with the road project completion. Wouldn't want to have a huge shopping center built with the Prince Perry Road bridge the way it is. Yikes. Building and road construction start this fall.

yeah that airline is allegiant, its really cheap to fly back and forth to Fla, but other than that its pretty expensive, I usually end up flying out of atlanta or charlotte, its only a couple hours and I have family in both places so a free place to park my car, gsp isn't the greatest

A couple of hours away seems like a lot when I live 5 min. away from our airport now. I checked, flying from Madison, Wi to GSP isn't cheap! Charlotte or Asheville would cost less. Our other option, Bowling Green, Ky is a little over an hour away from Nashville airport, which is cheap. But, that is only one thing to consider when making such a big move.

One very positive thing is knowing that there are so many state parks just north of GV!
Are there areas of shopping in all the surrounding cities, are there more in some then others? We walked main street, which was enjoyable, but not something I'd find myself needing to do that often.
Is the traffic heavier in some places more then others?
I should mention that we are somewhat stuck deciding between the Greenville area & Bowling Green, Ky. Any thoughts ?

These are the main advantages that I can think of regarding living in the areas outside Greenville:
Easley- Location in Pickens County, closer to many of the mountains, lakes, and Clemson University
- More suburban and rural, if that is desired
Greer- Central location between Greenville and Spartanburg
- Lots of sprawling suburban development, if that is desired
- Two brand new hospitals closeby
- Home to GSP International Airport
- Home to BMW Manufacturing U.S. Factory
Taylors- More established suburban neighborhoods
- Close to Greenville's and Greer's amenities without being "in" either, if that is desired
______________
There are plenty of basic shopping options in each of these places. If I had to place them in order from most shopping options to least, this would be the order: - Greenville - much greater variety and quantity of options
- Greer
- Easley - not far behind Greer
- Taylors - close enough to Greenville and Greer
______________
Traffic seems heaviest along suburban boulevards with lots of retail and business. The heaviest traffic seems to occur during the morning and evening rush hours.
______________
I have a co-worker who moved from Bowling Green to Spartanburg about 5 years ago. I will ask him for insight into the differences from his perspective and hopefully bring something helpful back to this discussion.

I would really, really, really appreciate if you could get some insight from your co-worker! Of course, Greenville & Spartanburg are a bit different, but I'm sure there would something I could get from the info.

He didn't feel that it would be easy for him to compare the two cities (Greenville and Bowling Green), but he is also much less familiar with Greenville than those of us who are residents here. I really tried to stimulate his memory about life in Bowling Green and these are the few definitive answers that he offered...
(paraphrasing)
"Simply put, Bowling Green is a college town. Life generally revolves around the school. There are lots of trails in the vicinity. The city is 'dead' during the summer months, when most of the students are away. Nashville is only an hour away."
As I mentioned, I really tried to get better information about any outdoor activities and free events offered in and around Bowling Green, but was unsuccessful. Greenville does an incredible job of providing many free outdoor events throughout the year, but of course one explanation could be that this city is the economic center of a much more populated region.
Hopefully this will be helpful in some way. I apologize for not providing a better base for comparison between the two cities.
