I replaced my United States flag in time for Memorial Day. I was wondering if there is a VFW or American Legion around Greenville/Greer that properly discards flags. Flag day (June 14th) is coming up quick, so if anyone knows of where I could drop off my old flag, I would appreciate it.

According to Section 176-(k) of the US Flag Code, the proper disposal method is burning.......Seriously

That-Guy, thanks for the reply.
Where I previously lived, the local VFW would hold a ceremony when they disposed (burned) the flags. And it was usually done on or the day before Flag Day (I forget which). It seemed a little more reverent than throwing it in my backyard burn pit and roasting marshmellows.

There are several Boy Scout troops that have a flag burning ceremony. They will take your flag for the ceremony. I give mine to a troop in Taylors.
