Talking skateboarder from wi relocating to Spartanburg

Hey I just graduated college and my best friend's mom inherited some houses in Spartanburg. She is letting us live there rent free, so I am just gonna get a P/T job, pay off my loans, and skate for the next two years. lmL !!!

First question. How is the skateboarding scene down there? Is there any "skate" bars. Not necessarily skateboarding themed, but a place where skateboarders and the like congregate. Spots and parks??? Shops?

Sencond question. Is there any skateshops or companies operating within the Greenville-Spartanburg micropolitan area?

Thanks a lot for any helpful responses.

There are a couple of skate parks in Greenville that I know of; "No Name", and "Ximeno's". They are frequented by little kids and teenagers though. But, if you're desperate for some vert ramps, there ya go (and you'll probably be admired from all sides, lol).
I remember seeing an outside skate park being built somewhere, but I don't remember where that was, sorry!
I'm sure there are other options, but those are the places I know of.

Spartanburg just got a skate park! (It's free.)

Skatepark of Spartanburg

There's also a skatepark in Inman (that costs money. =()

I don't know where skaters like to hang out though... but I'm sure if you visited the skate park, you could make friends who could tell you.

there's a pretty decent scene in greenville, i dont know about spartanburg though...like MichelleEllyn said for parks there is Ximeno and No Name, there is also a skate spot some guys work on, i dont know where it is because i dont skate but im sure if you go to Blazer and ask about "The Spot" somebody will be able to tell you about it. For shops there is Ximeno and Blazer. As far as bars go, they move around...sometimes Meatheads or Gypsy G's or there could be a house party. But like i said all that is for Greenville.

Good luck in Spartanburg. I think you will have way more fun in Greenville unless things have changed dramatically recently. Blazer Skate Shop in Greenville has been a skater's mainstay for years. If you wanna know about it, they will help ya. My best friend told me they just added some skate ramps and such to the park beside the Greenville Zoo which is kind of cool because it is VERY close to Blazer. (like a few streets behind) Just be careful and do not skate through the neighborhood in between the two as it is notorious for high crime. You will be safe to skate the entire park system once you get to the park, though. I wish I had better info on Spartanburg to share. My friends who lived there always came to my house to hang out so I just do not know as much about it other than it was boring as all get out for young people looking for something to do. They do have one cool bar where indie, punk and sometimes metal bands will play called Ground Zero.

Ground Zero is in the middle of nowhere. I think I remember it being near UPS? XD

Spartanburg isn't boring if you know what you're looking for. I go with the attitude that Greenville people are full of themselves and have gotten this spoiled attitude.

Go to the skating park on Union Street. It's brand new and amazing... I drove by the other day, and it looks really, really nice. Make friends there... and let them direct you to the fun.
