Um, this is because most married couples eventually choose to have children. That is not unique to the South!

How 'bout people in their early 50's who don't have kids much less grandkids. Are there other older couples out there also. Careers and life took priority as well as getting married later in life. Our pets have had to serve as our 'kids'. Looking to have an active social life in Greenville without kid's!

I think a lot of young families have chosen to "settle down" in Greenville because of the cost of living and the natural beauty, the conveniences etc. I know my wife and I chose it because we know someday we will want to have children and it seemed like a nice city to start a family in(did I mention someday?). That being said it is nice to know there are others like us out there who don't have the kids yet and are looking for friends!!

True, most do. But in areas that have a higher income and education level, there are more couples without children. It's much more common to see a childless-by-choice couple in the Raleigh-Durham area than it is in Spartanburg.
Sample study: http://www3.interscience.wiley.com/j...TRY=1&SRETRY=0
Quote from the abstract: "Voluntarily childless women have the highest income, prior work experience, and lowest religiosity compared to other women. This has been true since 1982, the earliest time point examined."

Money cannot purchase the immeasurable pleasure of a sincerely close-knit family. Money can, however, destroy the family relationship. The bond and growth of a family offers many unique opportunities to develop humility and selflessness - character traits that temporal wealth rarely affords its beneficiaries.

And according to NewYorkBorn, Greenville has low income and low education levels. So that must mean that everyone in Greenville has kids.
There are plenty of DINKs in Greenville (Double Income, No Kids).

George Burns said it best:
"Happiness is having a large, loving, close-knit family - in another city."

I must respectfully disagree with George Burns only on that last prepositional phrase. In my opinion, prolonged separation is usually damaging to relationships, especially when children are still being raised in the home.

I guess you'd have to know my family to find the humor - or my wife's for that matter!
But yes, there is nothing good about parents being away from their younger children. We're DINKS.
