Question Concerned about Seneca neighborhood

I am looking to rent a house on Ames St in Seneca. It's been remodeled recently and has alot of room. I live in Mtn. Rest SC now and don't know alot about the neighborhood. Does anyone know about this area? Any advice you could give me would be great. It's by an old mill, the streets need repaving but the monthly rent is great for the home. It will be myself, fiance and two daughters (6,4) that will be living there. So any information about the schools would be great as well.
