Outdated Bathroom Hardware. Help!
We conducted an exhaustive home search in our neighborhood (Half Mile Lake) but were often disappointed by the lack of updated kitchens/bathrooms/general hardware/carpet, etc. We finally found a house with the updates we were looking for. Everything updated, a dream professional gourmet kitchen, hardwoods throughout, etc, etc. BUT, the master bathroom still had the old school shiny faux brass fixtures, right down to the ceiling fan and tub jets. We are now looking to sell (job move) and are wondering if we need to go ahead and replace this hardware. My question is, would the brass hardware be a deal breaker for you? I just want to get a feel for what people are looking for in the Gville market. Thanks in advance.

honestly it wouldn't cost you near as much as the value it would add to your house to update the bathrooms, I would recommend it, my wife and I were very turned off by some outdated homes we looked at when we were in the market to buy this past year. hope this helps

yes update it!! we did it on our house and we just sold it in a week! home depot is running a sale on brushed nickel faucets for $88 and you can do lighting fixtures for under $50. you may be able to update your entire bathroom for around $200. when my wife and i were home searching, we were not interested in homes that needed updating. especially the brass fixtures. not sure why anyone ever liked them...

I agree with everyone. Replace the fixtures. You want someone to come into your home and say "wow!". Good luck on the sale of your home.

thank you everyone. i think it's going to be quite costly...because we have a shower stall and an oversize jacuzzi tub in there, along with ceiling fan and two vanities (we already have updated lights). the tub and shower would have to be taken off/apart to replace hardware. but it's true, the return on investment will be worth it. so, anyone know of a good contractor?
