O.K. dynamic duo, Greeville should have more? Why? At one point Augusta had three malls--with one being a major upscale mall on the river. According to wiki you only have one mall, and the old greenville mall is being converted into a mixed use facility. Things change over time. I saw a photo of Atlanta from thirty yrs. ago, they had no skyline. You'd think it was Chattanooga or something. My point is that some city's reach they're full potential and others don't. I believe that Augusta was well on its way to becoming a major city. But something happened. I say it's the consolidation--but in reality Atlanta just boomed and took everything with them: construction, retail, people, jobs, companies, etc. Hell, they took NCR. And if you don't remember, they're a fortune 500 company that has been in Dayton, OH for over a 100 yrs. Savannah has one of the largest and busiest ports in the U.S. (ranked 37th in the world for 2007) and it can't compete with the city of Atlanta. Greenville is a decent city. But what do you really have? Oklahoma City was just in Augusta and Greenville's shoes and look what they've done. Talk about growth and ameneties! For instance Bricktown in O.K. City. I'm not going into particulars but look it up. Greenville citizens that just goes to show how far you have to go.

True, Greenville. Riddle me this Greenville citizens. Why do you constantly talk about Augusta? Augusta is in a metro half your size. My best guess is you don't have much over metros that's your own size. What do you have over Memphis, Nashville, Charlotte, Jacksonville, or even Chattanooga?
That's right you don't have more you have less then those cities!!!!! And they're in your own league!!!!!

What are you talking about? I have the feeling that you've never been, or haven't been in a while to Greenville. How are those mentioned cities in Greenville's league? And, FWIW, no Greenvillians I know have any sort of fascination with Augusta. They love Augusta for that one weekend when golfers come to town...

Who is constantly talking about Augusta in the Greenville forum? Aside from a few juvenile threads started by apparently bored kids on summer break, I haven't seen anyone bring the subject up. It is interesting to note though how we have seen a trend where junior members from Augusta and recently even Huntsville have attempted to invade the Greenville forum with silly topics. Let's just drop this immature bickering and try to discuss the important topics with civility.

Magic. Its obvious you are frustrated, but facts are facts and Greenville offers more than Augusta and is growing faster. We didn't make that up, its just facts. Out of the cities you mentioned other than Chattanooga yes Greenville is behind them, but it should be. They are bigger cities. Similar thing in Augusta's case! Its GDP is less, it's growing less, and is smaller from the get go so it should have less at this point. That's not a bad thing, it just is what it is and all of this boosterism doesn't change facts. Big cheerleaders make you interested in cities you usually wouldn't be. Especially when they go over board. I'm sorry you got upset! I've been there and understand, but no need to get upset.

Metro Augusta includes two south carolina counties. Aiken and Edgefield county. People who live in North Augusta. Are closer to Augusta than they are to Aiken. Then you can always find. Richland, Barnwell, McCormick, Saluda, and Lexington county people in Augusta.
Greenville MSA is only about 75,000 larger than Augusta. Their CSA is almost twice as big. Augusta doesn't have a CSA yet.
