These guys are right on the money. The rare tornado that we get in this area might flip a few cars and nock some trees over, but thats about it. If you were to go up to anyone in a store here and ask them what the worst severe weather is, they will say "ice storms." Ice storms can be annoying for a few days with no power but thats all.

Default Greenville

I came across your post about Greenville. Did you ever move to SC? How is it? Is the ocean really warmer then freezing Santa Cruz?

Our family is from NorCal too and we were looking at Seneca/Greenville.... I too was afraid of tornadoes, lol

South Carolina sits on the Gulf Stream, so the water is much warmer.

Greenville is relatively safe from tornadoes. Only two F3s ever recorded there.

They do happen. It was just over a year ago that one hit the West Georgia Rd area of Simpsonville.. And I believe about 2 months ago that one hit towards Anderson (I think).. But they're usually small and limited. You don't generally see things like you would in Oklahoma and the like where an F-5 goes 50 miles.
