Jobs....just like everywhere else, few and far between! One of the highest unemployment rates in the US. Crime..Spartanburg seems to have more crime than Gville and surrounding areas. Of course, like everywhere crime is increasing with the unemploymnet levels incraesing. It seems like now the bad guys don't even wait for the cover of night, purse snatching at the mall etc.!

Greenville has natural beauty, good amenities for a city of it's size, nice homes and communities. The only issue here that concerns me are the limited job opportunities. Have NEVER in my life had the hard time like I had here when I was laid off with finding a decent paying job. Notice I emphasized the words "decent paying job".......there are a lot of minimum wage jobs here. Knowing what I know now about the lack of job opportunities, would I relocate here again?? NO! I would have waited until Greenville could offer more industry options or until it was time for me to retire......whichever would have come first.

But different strokes for different folks.

Check the online job sites. There are some nice openings locally in a variety of career fields. While it is more difficult to land one because of the greater number of other applicants (this is due to the weak global economy), there are definitely great opportunities available.
